Prayer In Time of Terrorism

O Almighty God, Supreme Ruler and Governor of all things, who are our strong tower of defense to them that fear You, and whose power no creature is able to resist. We cry out to you in this hour of our country’s need. To You belongs justly to punish the sinners, and to be merciful to those who repent. Save and deliver us, we humbly beseech You, from the hands of our terrorism; decrease their pride, check their malice, and confound their devices, that we, being armed with Your defense, may be preserved evermore from all perils, to glorify You, who are the only Giver of all victory.

Give to the family of the dead and injured comfort in their grief and a sure confidence in Your loving care that, casting their sorrow on You, they may know the consolation of Your love. Help us in the midst of things we cannot understand, to believe and find comfort in the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Draw near to us in our deepest sorrow and comfort us in the tragic deaths of those in this act of terrorism. Receive our thanks for them and for all the blessings You bestowed on them in this earthly life. Bring us all at last to our heavenly home that we may see you face to face in the joys of paradise, which is through Christ Jesus our Lor, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
